The last week of August we went down to the Paiute again. We had alot of fun, although there were some minor things that came up before we left but all in all we made it down there. The first night we packed up and drove up one of the trails, found a place to camp and spent the night. That was the original trail we had plan, when we got down there, we were told that the continuing trail was closed due to landslides. so we pulled out the maps and revised our trails.
The next morning we headed over to the ghost town (mining town) to check it out. It was really cool. I love old buildings! We went back to camp finished packing up and headed over to another trail to find a place to camp. We had 2 more people coming up that night so we wanted to make sure we were far enough away from the main town but close enough to go back to get them. We stayed across from this beautiful little lake. We pitched camp, got comfy and my brother ran back to get his friends that were coming up. they made it back just before it got too dark. We talked around the campfire and called it a night.
The following morning we kind of had a late start. I like my sleep-ins :) some of the boys went down fishing while the rest of us got going for the morning. around 10 we finally loaded up the toys and got going. We went down into a few towns had lunch and continued riding around til our little hearts were content. We saw many deer and elk, passed many lakes, found dead ends, helped lost people find their way back and made it back to camp just before dark. We enjoyed the campfire as much as we could that night but riding takes alot out of you so by 11 we were all tucked in for the night.
The last morning we ho-hummed around. We got our stuff packed up and left. We headed back to the trucks and trailers and braced ourselves for the long drive home. We had mild temperatures. the nights were cool but not cold, we found snow and rain found us. It was a great weekend that I am ready to go back and do again. I am very excited to explore this trail more (1900 miles of trail!) but for now we had to say our goodbyes for this year. We will see you next year Paiute!
