Embarrassment

I have to admit that I am not one who get embarrassed too much. I may turn red for a moment but then I am over it. There is one thing I have been embarrassed over in the last couple of years... my room.
I have never really had a room to myself and when I have I A) cant decorate because the rentee doesn't want hole in their walls or to have to repaint B) lived out of plastic bags and laundry buckets because I have had no form of furniture (even had to sleep with the mattress on the floor! Yes, sad to admit) or C) when I lived with my parents I attempted to pain and being the teenager I am completely blotched the job, got paint all over the carpet and didn't tape ANYTHING.. oh well the carpet was older than I was! Seriously.. It has been PATHETIC!
I feel as though my bedroom has always been somewhat of a sanctuary. When I lived at home it was somewhere I could shut out the anyone I wanted. It was a place I could dress, feel, express myself since I was always told how I was suppose to dress, feel, and express myself. I know this is crazy but I have a fascination with bedrooms because I ENVY them.. I always dreamed of the day I would be able to express myself through my very own room.
When I moved in with Bryce, he lived in a completely bachelor pad. we had to mesh our things together into this tiny room and it was NOT pretty. You see our room was grand central station. Everyone and their dog came in whenever they felt like it. I didn't have my personal space, I didn't have my funk, I didn't have anything.. 90% of the time I would be ready for bed and SOMEONE was always in our room using the computer, talking to Bryce or whatever. It was awful! After I finished the kitchen I convinced Bryce to let me have a stab at the room and I would make it 'ours' not 'Grand Central Station'. Now me posting this on my blog I had to give in to the fact that I have to post pre-pictures for you all to get the idea. I am VERY VERY embarrassed by these pictures but it is what it is. Now remember I have put my pride and joy in to this room for if you don't like it, act like you love it or just don't say much about it. I have worked nearly 5 months to peace this thing together. We started on December 24th.. that is right, Christmas Eve I was at Home Depot getting paint. I will also tell you where and how much we paid for everything in case everyone likes my awesome sense of style (rolling eyes)... Here we go... (PS we had already started to move things before we took these pictures so a little bit is already cleaned up but it is still pretty bad..)

Before
This is the entrance to the door. yes there is a dresser there and I don't know how many times I hit the corner of that thing. I don't even think we could ope the door because of that dresser.

This is standing in the corner of our right in front of our closet. I warned you! Where I was standing there was also a book shelf and a filing cabinet, full size on both of them. They blocked us from getting in the closet on the one side and me getting out of the bed every morning. I had to climb over Bryce to get off them bed. Don't forget the lamp! That stupid thing fell on my head at least 3 times last year and it hurt! I curse that lamp...

After

Just standing inside the door to our room. Our bed, filing cabinet and book shelf used to be where this dresser is.

Standing in front of our closet

Where I am standing is where we use to lay our pretty little heads

This is where the computer desk and dresser sat before in front of the door.

The closet right next to the door.. It doesn't look like it but we have alot more room now and we can now access both side of the closet without something in the way!

Always Kiss me goodnight. I love this! I got this at the scrapbook expo last Sept for $5. Now I saw it at Target for $20 too but I did NOT want to pay that much for a wall hanging. Good thing comes to those who wait!

I love this photo of Bryce and me. I put both of these above our light switch to remind us both that even if we are upset with one another that we still need to kiss each other goodnight and say we love each other. It reminds me that they petty stuff doesn't matter. The photo is by Laine Images. Contact Beckah for pricing!

I wanted to find a "LOVE" that was unique. I didn't want the standard box lettering. This I found at hobby lobby and I got them on sale for $5 a letter. They had many different styles but this I fund unique. Bryce - however - thinks it looks 70-ish. I think it has grown on him. The photo on the left is laine images. The photo on the right was done at lagoon. I believe we spent $30 for 2 8X10's. The paint is Ralph Lauren. It looks weird but it is a nice sage color. the rest of the room is also Raulph Lauren and it is a nice brown.

This is a close up of the love. I did all of the little extras on the lettering. The ribbon and flower I got from hobby lobby. The yellow tag says "Live for the moment" and the beading is from Heartfelt creations (My Favorite scrap booking store!!!!)

This is farther back so you can see how it sits. The shelf we also got at hobby lobby. I spent $25 for it on sale. If you sign up for emails you will get 40% coupons off and that is how I got them 'on sale'. The bed frame is from down east. This is NOT the color it is remaining. We are going to strip it and stain it back. We got this for $250 which is a killer deal. There was a lot of scratched but we didn't care. We knew we were going to strip it. This was the perfect frame and only the color didn't work. we had searched everywhere and I told Bryce I was fine as long as one day it became black to match the rest of our room, well he made this bed a sold bed. Underneath there are 2 drawers and 2 cubbies on each side. there is a storage in the center on the bed that you cant see. It worked out perfect!

This is our nightstand. we got this from Ikea for $100. Crazy we spent that much on a nightstand! The picture is one we took, the frame is from Hobby Lobby for $4 (coupon!!!). The redwood and black frames are from Shopko and we got them on clearance for $5 or something like that. The Alarm clock is from Target for $20

The lamp is so cute! It is tiny and adorable. We got this at Biglots for $10

The candles and candle holders... the dollar store! Best investment!

The dresser, Ikea $250. we spent hours, days, weeks trying to find a bedroom set. They were just too damn expense!

The curtains were from Ikea for $20. They come in 98 inches in length. I saw my friend with some and she told me about them. You cut them to length and they have this strip you put at the bottom, fold it over and iron them! No need to sew. I cannot sew if my life depended on it! These were the best investment ever! They come in different colors and patterns. I love these! Thanks Dezi!!!! Curtain Rods, Big lots $6... I did not realize how freakin expensive curtain rods are! No wonder why people just put up new paper. That is seriously a joke and a half!

This is our curtain closed. They are so dang cute.. very excited! The waste basket.. Ikea... $5. The bedspread and pillow cases (it is reversable too!) Shopko. Clearance $10. The black sheets and pillow cases we bought a LONG time ago at walmart. The littler motorcycle was a gift to Bryce from grandma (but she bought it at hobby lobby!)

Well there you have it. you love it or you hate it. We are going to look at light fixtures right now and I am still searching for a vinyl saying to go above our window but I have been searching for one that "pops" for about 5 months now so it may be a while...

I spy... a snoop

Ok so I have a little snoop running around. I was told that I forgot one Vegas picture to upload from my camera. How did this snoop get into my camera?? I am not for sure, but I appreciate the great reminder that I forgot this picture... one day I will learn, soon...

Thanks again little snoop

The rest of our Vegas pictures are below... sad that we only got 5.. I mean 6 pictures.

PS we went to hang up our curtains last night so I could FINALY take pictures of our room.... well the curtain rodds dont fit! That is just great. So I am on a mission to find curtain rods to hold my cute curtains up that fit... Anyone need some curtain rods??

I wish my little snoop would have found that out for me months ago for me when I bought them so I could have taken them back...
